Mahatma Ayyankali Award for Tanur Municipality

 

The state government's Mahatma Ayyankali Award was given in recognition of the employment guarantee activities in Tanur Municipality. The employment guarantee department of the Tanur Municipality secured second place in the state with 86 points based on operational excellence. This is the second time the municipality has won the Ayyankali Award. Received the award from the Hon. M. B. Rajesh, Minister for Local Self-Government. 83621 work days were created for 3547 families registered under the Employment Guarantee Scheme. 100 days of work were provided to 246 families. The Onam festival allowance of Rs. 1200/- announced by the state government to the T workers was distributed before Onam. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 2221 families were given employment cards and 1173 families were included in the employment guarantee scheme and wages were distributed. The agricultural lands in the municipality that were lying fallow without cultivation were included in the employment guarantee scheme through Kudumbashree. JLG. groups and through the land owners. Kappa, turmeric, ginger, banana and coconut farming methods were promoted. Perunthodu, Naduvathi Thodu, Palakkuttiyazhi and Kaithodu have been deepened and the water flow has been improved. The employment guarantee section of the Thanur Municipality has secured the second position at the state level due to its remarkable activities.
